RECREATION OPPORTUNITIES

Guests of the Lodge enjoy recreating on the lake year round.

From swimming, fishing, kayaking, boating, snowmobiling or snowmachining (as Alaskans call it), hunting, or sight seeing and wildlife viewing, there is something for everyone!

Eagles, swans, loons, various ducks, and of course bear can often be seen and heard on or near the lake.  We have our own private docks and water toys for guests to use on the lake, including an aluminum skiff, canoe, kayaks and paddle boards.

Valdez is an outdoor recreation mecca!  We also work with several local companies that offer various guided trips, tours, and charters to add to your Alaskan adventure in Valdez.  You can book a fresh or saltwater fishing trip for several species of fish including shark, halibut, cod, and various types of salmon, book a sea kayaking adventure in the sound, take a scenic Helicopter Flight with White Wolf Helicopters right from the lodge, check out glaciers including the mighty Columbia and Worthington, take an ATV Tour with Valdez Off-Road Adventures and travel up the old mining road into Mineral Creek Canyon.  Valdez also has several hiking trails for those looking to explore on foot.

For those seeking winter adventure Valdez is the snowiest city in America!   The Robe Lake Lodge is home to Black Ops Valdez offering Heli-skiing, Snowcat Skiing, and Snowmobile Adventures.  The heli season starts around mid February and goes until the end of April.  Thompson Pass also has some of the most incredible snowmobiling (snow machining) in the world.  Several major film companies and professional athletes come to Valdez each and every spring to film skiing, snowboarding, and snow machining.  There is no other place in Alaska or the world for that matter that offers the diversity and accessibility that the Chugach Mountains do here.
